As far back as he can remember Philip Punzo (DJ Punzo) always had the desire to be a DJ. The name Punzo is his family's last name, making it original. When he was 15, Punzo would spend his after school hours mixing records on his fathers turntables, In having such a good ear for music, he learned very quickly and with stride. Once he started to understand the basics, he would record his sessions on tapes, making them the "talk" of his friends and family. Practicing each day on the DJ decks gave him the confidence & experience he needed to be molded into an experienced and unstoppable DJ.
As the years passed he got a first hand look at what a Dj's job really consisted of. After helping his father and brother at night clubs, plus one of the biggest and only teen dance in Philly that ever existed at the time, "The Bocci Club", Established in the year 2000. Philly kids would wait on a Friday night to come & party. Every night was over packed with 500 to 700 people with lines wrapped around the corner. In 2001, DJ Punzo once again started showing his skills at dances and nightclubs, but this time he was solo, but he wasn't stopping there. Dj Punzo went on to start his own remix service called "Digitraxx Remix" which is now all over the Internet. Along with other DJs Punzo would create DJ friendly remixes using original songs and issue them to other DJ's. What started out as a fun idea caused major publicity online and around the world.
In 2006, DJ Punzo joined Drama Squad DJ's. Drama Squad is an entertainment company featuring almost a dozen DJs spinning the hottest dance blends, each with his own mix of today's rap and hip-hop, R&B, reggae and reggaeton. They then created a Remix Store called 'Drama Mix". DJ Punzo has created many mixes for this online store. To date his two most popular mixes to be played around the world, at major nights clubs and on major radio and satellite stations is his mash-up of Timbaland's The Way I Are and Alice Deejay's Better Off Alone, (which Punzo named "Better Off The Way You Are") and DJ Punzo's Gnor Mix of Danity Kane's song Damaged. Punzo also sends his remixes to DJ Richie from Q102 to play on the station. That same year. Punzo then started to work with Richie Rich and late night host Rocco from Q102. Not only did he have his remixes play over the radio but he also became a resident at some major clubs in Philly such as Club 27, The Roxxy/Bamboo Bar, Benny The Bums, just to name a few.
In 2007, He joined another remix service called "Select Mix/Hot Tracks'', a major remix label bought by many DJ's around the world. That same year, Q102 Rocco asked DJ Punzo to work with him and create a dance show called "Nocturnal USA". Every Friday night, just as the clubs were emptying out, Rocco & DJ Punzo would pump the airwaves with High Energy Beats of Dance, Electro, House, And Techno music. Dj Punzo and Rocco Wowed listeners in the Philadelphia area. It was the first time a station was playing Dance Music at that time slot ever since Robbie Tronco was on the station. The show brought Dance music back to Philly and got alot of listeners which made the show grow rapidly.
In 2008, DJ Punzo was featured on two Internet radio stations which are "Hitz Radio" and the station that he is currently employed, "Radio Danz" known as the worlds purest dance channel, which is now a dance station on I-Tunes Radio. Even though DJ Punzo has had many experience with music and alot of exposure, he is still trying to get his name out there more, and do what he loves.
